Article: Moab city wrestles with 2 expensive plans to help wetlands preserve - MoabTimes.com

Follow this link to be taken to the MoabTimes.com, where journalist Doug McMurdo covered a recent Moab City Council meeting where GWSSA is requesting support with a diversion in the Colorado River to help rejuvenate the Matheson Wetlands Preserve.

"“Historically, the Colorado River flooded the Matheson wetlands regularly,” said Musselman. “Those flooding events are much rarer because of drought and dams above Moab on the Colorado River and its tributaries. This project would move Colorado River water into critical parts of the wetlands like natural flooding used to do.”
Long-term, the second criterion GWSSA hopes to meet is restoring streams that have experienced increased erosion because of drought. Once water from the Colorado River is pressurized and added to the Moab Irrigation Company’s system, more water would flow through Mill Creek."
